The 18th Daihatsu ABC Badminton National Primary School Tournament

Nara Prefecture Qualifications Report

Uda-shi is situated in the Northeastern part of Nara prefecture. The "Uda-shi Sports Hall" in Uda-shi is widely popular among the citizens as a regional sports center and was where the Nara prefecture qualifications were held.
Approximately 150 players ranging from Primary 1 to 6 were involved in the intense rounds of games, all of whom took part in anticipation of the National tournament to be held in August.

Amongst the numerous heated battles, the Class C Boys (Primary 2 and below) particularly, left an impression.
As both the players had gone through several games to get to the finals, they looked exhausted then. However, both players still did not give way, bringing the match to a 3 set one. Despite the rackets looking large against their tiny physiques, the players displayed a powerful play beyond imagination which brought about heated cheers from not only their supporters and instructors but all of the spectators.
On the other hand, the finals for the Class A Boys (Primary 5 to 6 ) was also a heated match that was beyond impressive.
Primary 5 Higashi bravely fought against the Primary 6 Sano who was both different in age and size from him and who also took the 1st set. Although Higashi did show the spirit to take the 2nd set, Sano brought home the 3rd set to a dignified win. Both players praised each other for the good game and ended the match like true sportsmen.

From the wee hours of the morning, the families and supporters of the competitors as well as many others rushed down to the venue to support the competitors.
At Daihatsu, items such as the stick balloons were provided together with sports drinks to support the players who were to compete. From the standing seats on the 2nd floor, spectators sent generous applause and cheers to the players who were playing so dedicatedly. Additionally, at the parking lots adjacent to the tournament venue, the Daihatsu service staff carried out free basic inspection of the cars for the people who drove to the venue on that day.
